Meet Prof. Kiran Upadhyay from U. of Florida, Our New Editor-in-Chief of "International Journal of Clinical Pediatrics"

Dr. Kiran Upadhyay is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric
Nephrology at the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he also serves as Medical Director of
the nationally top-ranked pediatric kidney transplant program. Under his leadership, the program has
achieved outstanding outcomes, including best-in-nation wait-list survival, time-to-transplant, and one year graft survival as reported by the SRTR (July 2025).

Dr. Upadhyay is recognized nationally and internationally for his excellence in clinical care, research, and
education. He has authored more than 62 peer-reviewed publications. His scholarly contributions also
include invited educational content for BMJ Best Practice and editorial roles with multiple journals. His
research portfolio spans leadership in multicenter clinical trials—such as VALE, VALIANT, PRESERVE
2.0, CARE-NS, and KOFEE—as well as international collaborations on IgA nephropathy, vasculitis, anti-
GBM disease, and Takayasu arteritis.

A dedicated mentor and educator, Dr. Upadhyay actively trains residents, fellows, and junior faculty
while contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives. His national service
includes committee roles with the International Pediatric Transplant Association, American Board of
Pediatrics, and multiple collaborative research consortia.

Balancing clinical leadership with academic scholarship, Dr. Upadhyay is committed to advancing
pediatric nephrology and transplant medicine while improving the lives of children with kidney disease.
