
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Journal Editorial Assistants to join our editorial team. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of the journal publication process and supporting editors, authors, and reviewers throughout manuscript handling. The Editorial Assistant will work closely with the editorial office to uphold academic integrity, maintain publication timelines, and contribute to the continuous growth and reputation of our journals.
Position Overview
The Journal Editorial Assistant will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day editorial workflow, including manuscript processing, peer review coordination, and author communication. This position is ideal for an individual with strong organizational skills, excellent written communication, and a keen interest in medical research, scholarly publishing, and editorial development. The Editorial Assistant will play a key role in supporting high-quality publication standards, ensuring clarity, consistency, and professionalism across all editorial tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Manage manuscript submission and peer-review workflow within the journal’s editorial system
Communicate with authors, reviewers, and section editors in a timely and professional manner
Conduct initial formatting checks to ensure compliance with journal guidelines and ethical standards
Track manuscript status, send reminders, and ensure deadlines are met during peer review
Assist in the selection and invitation of expert reviewers when needed
Support editorial decision-making through screening, documentation, and review coordination
Proofread and prepare accepted manuscripts for production, including copyediting support
Maintain accurate records, archiving, and data entry for editorial communications
Assist with editorial board correspondence, meeting organization, and process documentation
Contribute ideas for workflow improvements, journal growth, and author engagement
Provide support for special issues, themed collections, and editorial projects as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, medicine, public health, or a related discipline preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently under deadlines
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills
Experience with scholarly publishing systems is an asset but not requiredProficiency in MS Office, email communication, and online platforms
