Open Access License Transition (CC-BY-NC to CC-BY) Effective 2026

Elmer Press is pleased to announce an important update to our open-access publishing policy that reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency, accessibility, and the broadest possible dissemination of medical research.

Effective January 1, 2026, all articles published across Elmer Press journals will be made available under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License, also known as Gold Open Access.

This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, including commercial use, provided the original work is properly cited. It supports maximum visibility and reuse, and aligns our publishing practices with leading international open-access standards, including Plan S / cOAlition S, UKRI, Wellcome TrustGates Foundation, NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research), and other major funder requirements.

What This Means for Authors, Readers and Reusers

Articles published from 2026 onward will be licensed under CC BY, enabling wider dissemination and compliance with global open-access mandates.

Articles published prior to 2026 will retain their existing CC BY-NC (Attribution–NonCommercial) license. These earlier publications will continue to be accessible under the same terms originally agreed upon by authors.

Why We Are Making This Change

This transition reflects our mission to support the medical and scientific community by:

Enhancing discoverability and global reach of published research
Facilitating broader reuse—including academic, clinical, educational, and industry applications
Aligning with evolving author expectations and funder requirements
Strengthening our commitment to open science and responsible knowledge dissemination

We believe this licensing policy update will benefit our authors, readers, and the wider scientific community.
